Why We Love Hemp (And You Should Too!)

Why We Love Hemp (And You Should Too!)

Posted by Lindsey Holy on Jun 27th 2019

Our love of botanicals runs deep, but only within the last few years have we been able to incorporate the many benefits from the revolutionary hemp plant and create a new line of innovative skin care products.

Working directly with local farmers + researching the benefits of topical skin applications has vastly expanded our knowledge and understanding of hemp. Just like some of our other favorite botanicals, we are fascinated by the properties that this extraordinary plant has to offer.

Hemp + Skin

Believe it or not, the human body naturally produces cannabinoids on its own. This is partly why our bodies are so compatible with cannabis in all of its varied forms and uses. Cannabinoids used in direct contact with the skin propagate our bodies own natural healing process.

The skin care industry has always been focused on young, healthy, glowing skin and anti-aging products. Most of what is available on the market contains the use of chemicals like BHT and SLS. Inesscents is committed to creating products that support your skin naturally without harmful additives. We take pride in using sustainably sourced, high quality, naturally grown hemp alongside a wide variety of organic botanicals in our topical CBD line. Our exceptional formulations include nourishing salves, elixirs, sprays, bath salts, soaps and a complete facial care line - all infused with high potency, full spectrum CBD to holistically support every skin type.

Hemp is a Super Food!

Hemp seeds, hemp protein powder, hemp milk and hemp oil (just to name a few) are exceptional sources of nutrition. From these foods, you can get essential fatty acids (omega 3 and omega 6), fiber, minerals, and vitamins. Hemp foods are not only suitable for vegetarians and vegans, but for anyone who pursues a healthy and balanced diet. This all-natural super food offers wonderful health benefits and can be found in nearly every natural grocery store around the country.

Hemp + Sustainability

Hemp stalks provide an excellent source of fibrous material for making composite panels of all shapes, sizes, and functions. From doors to floors, car parts, window frames, and everything between. Building with hemp can reduce our carbon footprint tremendously.

Plastic pollution is an environmental and health hazard. The basic building blocks of plastic are cellulose. Currently, cellulose is primarily obtained from petroleum. However, petroleum-based plastics are harmful to human health- not to mention destructive to the environment as it’s not sustainable. Hemp on the other hand, happens to be an excellent source of cellulose and is a sustainable resource. Hemp plastic is biodegradable, non-toxic, and safe for our bodies and our planet. Hemp stalks can also act as a reinforcement for thermoplastics. It is suited for making a wide array of plastic consumer products (such as DVD cases + smoke detectors), and it is customizable to meet various systems and specifications.

Hemp is cheap to produce and an ideal replacement for fiberglass. It is easier to mold and weighs less than most other materials for composite paneling.

All of this and more can aid our planets regeneration. What we choose to build with and create with has an almost everlasting impact on our environment. There are many ways we can choose to be more conscious and support the healing of our earth.

Hemp Fabric is Eco-Friendly

Hemp fabric is without any doubt one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics out there. Slowly but surely, hemp is conquering the fashion market with its durable, anti-microbial and breathable properties.

Hemp Paper

Though we don’t have a precise number we can only guess how many trees are being cut down at this exact moment to make paper. Wider use of hemp paper can help sustainability efforts to reduce deforestation. One acre of Hemp can produce as much paper as 4-10 acres of trees over a 20 year cycle.

What’s Not to Love?!?!

So, what’s not to love about hemp? It can support your body from the inside out. You can eat it and be healthy. You can build with it and have an environmentally friendly home. You can support the movement towards bioplastics and reduce our carbon footprint. You can use hemp paper and help slow down deforestation. You can even wear it.

There are MANY wonders of hemp, and here at Inesscents, we are working to see this ancient botanical change the conversation - not only in skin care - but in how the world works.
